There is clear evidence of the dramatic effect plastic waste is having on the planet's environment and in particular, to the marine life within the oceans. It has been recognised that one of the significant contributors to this water pollution is the presence of 'microplastics' which can cause serious harm to marine life and associated ecosystems.

Unfortunately, these plastic 'microbeads' have typically been used in hand cleaners and rinse-off skin care products, including the previous Vapormatic hand cleaners. However, there are more environmentally friendly ingredients that can be used without compromising the performance of the product; including silica grains.

New 2018 UK Legislation:- As you may already be aware, following a consultation by DEFRA (Department of Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs), the UK is introducing a new law to ban plastic microbeads in the production of rinse-off skin care products

The new regulations are covered by "The Environmental Protection (Microbeads) (England) Regulations 2017" and prohibits the manufacture of rinse-off personal care products containing microbeads effective from 9th January 2018. However, existing products can still be sold until the 19th June 2018. After this date a person who supplies, or offers to supply, any rinse-off personal care product containing microbeads will be guilty of an offence.

NEW Vapormatic Micro-bead free Hand Cleaners

The previous Red beaded and Citrus hand cleaners (VLB4051, 4052, 4053, 4055 and 4093) have all now been replaced by new hand cleaners containing environmentally-friendly silica grains (see new part numbers below).

The performance of the new formulation remains highly effective with excellent deep cleaning and removal of heavy soiling and dirt from the skin. The emollient PH7 neutral ingredients limit effect on the skin and provide moisturising qualities.
